Introduction

Imagine having a powerful tool at your fingertips that allows you to proactively manage and mitigate the impact of severe weather events like floods and hurricanes. A tool that provides a detailed graphical interface to the national water model, various weather forecast models, and empowers you to perform interactive flood impact assessments on buildings and infrastructure. This is not science fiction – it's HeavyEco Flood, the groundbreaking solution that is transforming emergency preparedness for local government officials and organizations across the United States.

The Growing Threat of Floods and Hurricanes

In recent years, the United States has experienced a surge in extreme weather events, particularly floods and hurricanes. According to NOAA, the frequency of coastal flooding has doubled since the year 2000.  These natural disasters can have devastating consequences, affecting communities, infrastructure, and the economy. It's imperative that local government officials are equipped with the right tools to tackle these challenges head-on.

Benefits of HeavyEco Flood

A recent study found that half of typical flood damage costs could be averted by better and more inclusive advanced planning.  As communities face a changing climate, upgrading situational awareness and data infrastructure is an important first step.  HeavyEco provides:

   - Improved decision-making during weather emergencies.

   - Enhanced public safety through accurate and timely information.

   - Efficient allocation of resources for disaster response and recovery.

   - Enhanced infrastructure resilience and risk reduction.

   - Cost savings by preventing damage and disruptions.

HeavyEco Flood: Your Shield Against the Storm

HeavyEco Flood is designed to be your ultimate weapon against the unpredictability of nature. Here's why it's a game-changer:

1. Interactive & Immediate Access to the National Water Model

The National Water Model or NWM goes beyond gauged streams to provide a continuously-updated forecast for each of 2.8 million streams and rivers across the country. In addition to riverine flooding, it also accounts for tidal surges and hurricanes.  HeavyEco Flood provides you with direct graphical access to the National Water Model outputs downscaled to your community of interest. This is crucial for planning and responding to flooding events in your region.

2. High Resolution, Rapid Response (HRRR) Weather Forecasts

NOAA gathers an astonishing 6.5 billion observations per day, producing forecasts which are 90% accurate even 5 days in advance.  HeavyEco uses GPU accelerated servers to extract and interactively visualize just the data you need when you need it.    Stay ahead of the curve with continuously updated weather data that can aid in early warnings and preparedness.

3. Interactive Flood Impact Assessments

What sets HeavyEco Flood apart is its capability for interactive flood impact assessments. You can assess the potential impact on buildings, infrastructure and vulnerable populations, enabling you to plan and allocate resources effectively.
